Night Life In Nana District
Dating back to the boom-time era of the 1960s nana plaza still rocks, but the vibe has certainly changed. Complete with dodgy neon signs the plaza seems to of matured and become more established rather than wild and free as it did in the old days.
Usually frequented more by expats and tourists Nana District is the heart of the foreigners quarter nightlife. With Soi Cowboy (just) within walking distance it pulls the crowds in, even in low season.
Originally Nana Plaza was a local amenities place with barbers shops and the like. Only a single bar was nearby and that was Lucky Lukes. Meanwhile some nearby Go-go bars on Soi 14-16 were frustrated at the building work going on adjacent to them. So needing somewhere to move to while the work was on-going they moved into Nana Plaza. They were The Roses (Three Roses), Rainbows and another. So between Lucky Lukes at the entrance and these go-go's the Nana Plaza was officially in business and there was no going back!

Floor after floor of bars and go-go's. The ground floor tends to be open-air beer-bars and go-go's. Once you get to the 1st and 2nd floor then you just have go-go's all over the place. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to adult-entertainment. This place is old, dating back to the 1960s-70s when the GI's rocked the city but there's no going back and Nana Plaza now rocks to a different crowd.
Around Nana Plaza
The areas around the plaza are a bit less racy, but with hordes of freelance Bargirls plying their trade outside the Nana Plaza Hotel it isn't that tame. The bars, outside of the plaza tend to be on the Nana Plaza side and are hit and miss. Chequers bar seems to be full of expat snobs, or at least wannabe snobs. Jools Bar is a characterful place with more down-to-earth expats in it. Further down are some pool bars.
Getting to Nana Plaza District
One of the easiest ways is the handy BTS system / Skytrain. There are several BTS stations that run the length of Sukhumvit and the one titles 'Nana' is the one you need.
